I Blast Purple Passion as the Book Launch Gets Real

Yesterday, my son walked into my office and asked me what I was doing.

“I’m working,” I said.

“But it’s Saturday.” The disbelief dripped off his words.

“I know, and I blast purple passion as the book launch gets real.”

As a writer, I can’t wait to share this sexual wellness tool.

As a reader, I hope you will use it well for a better quality of sexual life for yourself.

What You Don’t Know

For me, creating a visual statement about the book takes concentrated alone time. No other focus. Only this content. No other distractions.

The process has a flow to it. It’s purple. It’s always been purple.

As I worked on sorting pictures and meanings and thinking about the words in Purple Sex & Love Beyond Your Dreams: A Women’s Guided Journal to Explore Your Sexual Self, the realization hit me.

I’m 45 days from book release on August 15, 2023, and there’s a lot to do to create a book launch.

So, let’s get you the back story.

How It Came to Be

In 2018, at the annual Florida Writers Conference, when Infused Leather was a semi-finalist in the Royal Palm Awards, I met Arielle Haughee in a presentation. We talked about my work, and I was thrilled she was open to sex positivity.

The following year I presented two workshops on writing sex in scenes and how to get into the erotica market. And I joined Arielle on a panel about sexuality. A kindred writing connection was formed. Look at the two smiling people below. That’s Arielle and me in the front.

This book project started on December 28, 2020 (I checked my email) when Arielle Haughee contacted me about expanding her focus journal line. She wanted to include a sexual wellness journal and asked if I would write it.

Because of my deadlines, we didn’t meet until February 2021, and the ball got rolling.

As my discussions with Arielle progressed, I had an idea that I wanted to collaborate with a sexuality colleague that I admired. I asked them both about that possibility and got a resounding yes. But as we edged closer to a solid project, a personal tragedy struck my co-author, and the project went on hold.

What now?

My trip to the NC mountains in September 2022 helped me figure out my next steps. That was when the surprise occurred. The mountain energy helped me embody a tool that was born of the journal ideas. I called my colleague to share, and when I explained what was happening and that I was ready to roll, they gave me their blessing and bowed out of the collaboration. The Purple Sex Reflection Deck for Women was born, and that creative process allowed me to finish the journal.

I realized it was about new energy, and I needed to claim it. A course for the cards materialized and I used the journal material for teaching. I was on the way and pressed myself to get the journal draft to Arielle by March 31, 2023. This had several meanings. The journal would exist, and I had to finish it before traveling to Europe. Carrying the Purple Sex Energy with me across the world caused my heart to soar.

I had created cards, a community, and now a journal with more to come.

The Pre-Launch Begins

There is so much to do for a book launch, and I am still learning on the fly.

• I created forty-five days of purple delight graphics to introduce the Purple Sex Journal.
• Three podcast events are secured.
• Book signings are being negotiated.
• Two professional presentations solidified where I’ll have a book table.
