2021 Another Tough Year Living as a Writing Hermit
Another Covid tough year has passed, and I prevailed. In fact, I kept my head down and churned out a lot of content. I also got new jobs which cause new projects for 2022. I’m so grateful to my fans and followers. You make it all worthwhile.
What I missed this year was regular hugs and close, intimate conversations with my friends and family. In between Delta and Omicron, I did visit with my NC author friend, Darryl Bollinger, and hosted the phenomenal Mischa Eliot and Heather Whitaker for a writing retreat.
I said Bon Voyage to fellow writer and dear friend Diann Schindler as she moved to Portugal.
This year had a lot of personal losses. I lost my first employer, Phil Harvey of Adam and Eve, my favorite sexuality trainer, David Schnarch, and a sex therapy colleague, Mary Anne Baker-Holmes. It crushed my heart when I lost my best friend from childhood in November and my Dad two weeks ago.
I find solace in nature, walking, and self-reflection.
Given all those losses, I planned a trip to visit my son in Austin, Texas. I hadn’t visited in two years. I write this post from his new living room. We have laughed and cried and lived a lot of life together in two weeks.
My Work Review for 2021
When I put this together, I was surprised to see the amount of content created. The people I work with, the ideas emerging and the warmth of camaraderie is heartwarming. This year set the stage for some big projects in 2022. Stay tuned!

It’s always fun to see what resonated with readers in both fiction and non-fiction. And my number one erotic read of 2021 was the same last year. Check them out.
Of my 13 non-fiction Medium blog posts, the most read non-fiction story was When Science and Sex Line Up.
Of my 3 erotic fiction stories on Medium, the most read was The Cellist Next Door: An Erotic Interlude.
The most read erotic story here on my website was Will He Let Me?
Self-reflection and Conclusion to 2021
My personal team kept me grounded. You all know who you are.
Twitter Spaces was a surprising and welcomed new feature of the year. It reminded me of all my days in sexuality information hotline work. I love the nuance and voices and Spaces brought all that back in a new way. I love Mischa jumped in with both feet with my endeavor of The Sexuality Space. I have loved every interview, every discussion. I have met some of the coolest people who are now a constant part of my life. I’m excited to see how it grows in 2022.
I’ve also met new people through Twitter Spaces who have given me new information and ways to grow in my business. These include Joselin Mane, Andrew Lyons, Bobby Umar, Kimberly Kay Scott, Tonya Schulz, Madalyn Sklar, Samantha Kelly, Ron Richards, George Silverman, Jennifer Navarette, Samantha Postman, and Sethi Shakun to name a few who have impacted me.
I look for the good in life, people and ideas, and find it. You can too. That may also be the mantra of my sexuality work. It is about strength, goodness, balance, pleasure. When all of those things come together, anything is possible.
I welcome the New Year with that sentiment. I hope you do, too.
My wish for 2022 is that we all continue to find our resilience as we move through our lives and uplift those who need our help, kindness, and compassion. I look forward to what the New Year will bring.
