Book Review: Justin Lehmiller’s Tell Me What You Want

The title of Justin’ Lehmiller’s book, Tell Me What You Want could be found in my world. I spend a lot of time in the sex fantasy world writing, sex-positive literary erotica, it thrilled me when this book came out. As a retired sex therapist who loves sex science, I couldn’t wait to see the results of a large research study. Justin Lehmiller writes with a knack for plain speak about research topics. It makes this a solid read for researchers and non-researchers alike. Not only does he provide new information for the world about what Americans think, he positions his...

Tamara Lush, Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Vol 4 Contributor

It’s almost time. On December 11, 2018, Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 4 releases. What better way to get jazzed than to meet one of the contributors. May I introduce, Tamara Lush. This writer is someone I know in real life!!! See I am fangirling, too. Tamara was tremendously helpful to me at the beginning of my writing career and I appreciate she took the time to talk with me and answer all my crazy questions. I am thrilled to see her story in this anthology. But let’s see what she has to say about it. How do...

Meet Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Vol 4 Contributor, Eliza David

A year ago, I celebrated the release of Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 3 and my story contribution, Infused Leather. I would not have guessed that it would be selected as a semi-finalist in the 2018 Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Literary Awards. It was such an exciting year for which I am grateful. I am delighted to talk about the next volume. Starting today I will share a couple of the wonderful authors who are in Best Women’s Erotica of the Year, Volume 4. I wish the editor, Rachel Kramer Bussel, and all the authors much success in...

Orfeo’s Ascent: A Modern Opera – Part 2

#FollowFriday I am pleased to share the second part of this historical romance with heat!  Click here for Part One of Orfeo’s Ascent. Be sure to follow L. Devin Verity on Twitter.  Peter edged closer. “Anwen? Where did he go? Are you all right? What’s —?” The softness of fingertips hushed his lips, tugged him closer to the shadows. “I paid him. He’s gone now.” Her fingers slid down, tracing Peter’s lapels. “The thing is… I’m feeling very much like our poor heroine.” His heart clenched, his voice weak. “I’m sure I don’t know what you mean.” She stood before...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight: L Devin Verity

It’s #WriterWednesday. Join me in welcoming a new voice to the erotica writing world. Today, I am sharing my platform with L. Devin Verity, who has woven a tale set in London that touches the heart and the body.  For me, setting a stage for an erotic romance in historical fiction is difficult to do. I’m excited to showcase a writer who does it well. Lie back and enjoy an erotic story from another time and place. You can follow her on Twitter. Click on her name above.   Orfeo’s Ascent: A Modern Opera Part 1 of 2 London, 1920...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight: The Man, the Guitar Legend: Horatio Slice

Lucky me, I got a sneak peak of Oleander Plume’s new book, Horatio Slice Guitar Slayer of the Universe. I can’t remember the last time the first chapter of a book pulled me in and anchored me, center stage, to a fascinating tale.  I kept thinking, what would happen if I told Horatio I read the first chapter three times in a row to savor it? I’m sure it would go to his head, both of them. As I look back now, I realize the characters threw me into a scene from the movie, A Knight’s Tale. It was the one where...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight: Author Laura Lascarso

My connection with Laura Lascarso is fascinating. A common writing space is our link. We share a love for an ethereal retreat, a place that supports our creation and we alternate using it. There, we deposit the essence of who we are as writers. I like to imagine our energies mingle, as our muses and characters laugh and dance together. This October, at the Florida Writers Conference, we will meet in real life and share common space. Watch out world. I am taken with Laura’s story, Andre In Flight. It is a male-male romance that captures the heart and spirit of love and desire.  This...

Dr. J.’s Spolight: Author Eliza David

A writer’s journey is not complete unless there are folks to witness your process and your progress. Those people are cheerleaders for your success. For me, that person is Eliza David. I can only hope to cheer as loudly for her as she does for me. Eliza and I met on Twitter. I don’t even remember how, but our feeds crossed, and the rest is history. Besides being my #SisterInSmut, she is a resource person. Eliza is the most in touch, finger on the pulse of the writing world, kind of woman. Her new book, The Follow is out, and I invited...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight: Writer’s Date ~ It’s a Thing

Many erotic authors strive to entertain you while they create stories that first amuse them. What do you think keeps our creative effort and energy flowing? Besides you, dear reader, the answer is each other. If you think it’s fun reading our stories, imagine our joy in creating them. We share everything from our inspiration of originality to our plots and final drafts with each other. And there’s more. I was at dinner the other night at Top Chef Kenny Gilbert’s restaurant, Gilbert’s Underground Kitchen. The menu boasted a tasty sangria flight, so everyone at the table decided to give it a...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight: NYC Whirlwind

I had a glorious week in the Big Apple. What did I learn? 1) Let’s get basic. If you want to jump start your exercise program, this walking city is the way to go. I averaged 15,000 steps a day.  When I headed out the front door of the hotel, boom, I was in cardiovascular exercise mode—for the whole day. The theme of this trip was to experience vibrant people, places, and energy. 2) The people made the city. My first people connections involved seeing old friends. These long time friends moved to NY from our little world of Tallahassee....

Dr. J.’s Spotlight on Hotness: KinkCrate

The Glass Emperor-A Kink Crate Original by Dr. J. Every Wednesday night, Mr. Ashton Blackthorne highlights one of his Wicked Pen Writers, and my turn had arrived to host my first Facebook take-over event in Blackthorne’s Dungeon. Using my college classroom ice-breakers, I planned to introduce myself and facilitate fun sexuality games for the evening. But I wanted to have a special event, so I enlisted the help of my friends at Kink Crate. I met the owners of Kink Crate back in November when they attended a pop-up book event where I was celebrating the release of Forever Tattooed. They shared...

Dr. J.’s Spotlight on Hotness: Mischa Eliot

This week I premiere my first author interview. And my spotlight shines on Mischa Eliot. I thank the universe for the day I virtually met Mischa. I soon learned she was my writer twin. She is a vivacious redhead with a sassy side, like me. We laugh at the same things. The first time we talked on the phone, my family wanted to know why they weren’t invited to the party! It was LOUD. We most definitely celebrated. When liked minded people come together especially if they talk sex, wondrous things happen. She is one of my favorite sexy people,...
